Old Chicago movie theaters stage a (small) revival: Chicago’s neighborhoods are dotted with the architectural remnants of a bygone era — opulent movie palaces, some in working order and others, like the Uptown Theater, dilapidated remains of their once-grander selves. Like Dickens’ Miss Havisham dressed in her decrepit wedding finery waiting for her groom, many of these gilt-encrusted theaters are muted by dust and cobwebs, waiting for their audience. And it may be arriving.
