Chicago’s beer stein runneth over with new craft brew startups: The craft beer business is booming in Chicago, with openings planned for several microbreweries — and even smaller nanobreweries. “2012 is going to be a year of unprecedented growth for craft beer in Chicago,” said Paul Schneider, who writes about the local beer scene at his Chitown On Tap blog. “The consumers today are turning away from mass-produced industrial beers … toward artisanal, handmade products, where you have a sense of connection to the identity of the company and the people producing it.”
